Hiring foreign workers in Czechia

Czechia's sponsor-side workload sits with the employer or host institution on the Employee Card, Blue Card, ICT, scientific research, and seasonal-work routes. The sponsor usually supplies the contract or hosting basis, vacancy or transfer documentation, and any follow-up needed from the Ministry of the Interior, while first-filing logistics can still depend on whether the worker is applying abroad through a diplomatic mission or inside Czechia.

This sponsor guide remains at needs-review for the same reason as the worker guide: current official Blue Card materials are not fully aligned on a core first-filing contract requirement. 2Information Portal for Foreigners / Ministry of the Interior — Blue Card9Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs — Modré karty pro cizince v České republice11Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic — Blue Card

Sponsor-backed routes

Employee Card

Czech employer

The employer backs the file with the qualifying employment relationship and the vacancy-based data the residence authorities use for the Employee Card case.

  • Issue the work contract or pre-contract in the form required for the filing.
  • Provide the vacancy number or other route-matching employment evidence for the case.
  • Stay available if the Ministry or embassy asks for clarifications on the job, sponsor, or file completeness.

Blue Card

Czech employer

The employer supplies the high-qualification role, the Blue Card vacancy reference, and the contract terms that have to match the route's qualification and salary logic.

  • Issue a contract or pre-contract that matches the current Blue Card filing standard and salary rule.
  • Provide the vacancy number from the Blue Card vacancy database.
  • Coordinate quickly on any same-day clarification needed if the authorities or the diplomatic mission question contract duration or route fit.

Long-term Residence Permit for the Purpose of Scientific Research

Approved Czech research organisation

Researcher cases are sponsor-heavy because the host institution provides the hosting agreement and the statutory commitment linked to the research stay.

  • Issue the hosting agreement in the form expected for the route.
  • Provide the organisation's written commitment on eligible stay and departure-related costs where required.
  • Confirm the research basis if the Ministry requests follow-up information.

Intra-company Employee Transfer Card

Sending company and Czech host entity within the same group

ICT filings depend on the group relationship, transfer letter, role type, and the host entity's ability to show that the move is a real intra-group transfer rather than local hiring.

  • Provide the transfer letter and define whether the worker is a manager, specialist, or employed intern.
  • Document the corporate relationship between the sending and host entities.
  • Confirm any regulated-profession or qualification evidence still required for the transferred role.

Seasonal-work visa

Czech seasonal employer

Seasonal-work cases require the employer side to support the work-permit and contract conditions for a qualifying seasonal job rather than a standard long-term residence route.

  • Issue the seasonal employment contract and align it with the work-permit filing.
  • Provide wage or accommodation confirmations where the route asks for them.
  • Keep the seasonal role inside the route's limited duration and sector rules.

Employer requirements

04

Documents

Signed employment contract or pre-contract

Employee Card and Blue Card sponsors have to issue the underlying employment document in a format the Czech authorities will accept for the route.

Vacancy or labour-market routing details

Employee Card and Blue Card cases depend on vacancy-database identifiers or other labour-market setup that connects the worker to the specific Czech job.

Hosting agreement or transfer letter

Researcher sponsors need the hosting agreement and related cost commitment, while ICT sponsors need the transfer letter and corporate-relationship evidence.

05

Process

3

Stay available through decision and arrival steps

Support the worker through any embassy or Ministry follow-up, then stay ready for the arrival phase because Czech processing continues into D/VR issuance, registration, biometrics, and card collection.

06

Warnings

Warning

Blue Card contract drafting needs a live rule check

Current official Czech sources still do not fully align on whether a first Blue Card contract must run for at least six months or one year, so sponsor teams should confirm the live filing standard before issuing final paperwork.

Warning

Mission-side filing logistics still vary

Where the worker files abroad, sponsors should expect mission-specific appointment practice and territorial-competence checks rather than one uniform overseas filing workflow.
