Definition
The Orientation Year is a Dutch temporary residence permit for recent graduates and certain researchers that gives them time to look for skilled work or set up a business without first securing a sponsoring employer. During this period, the holder has broader labour-market access than many ordinary work-permit applicants. It is commonly used as a bridge into the Highly Skilled Migrant route once the person finds an eligible employer.
