Address Registration

The post-arrival administrative step where a new resident reports their home address to the local authority so other systems can recognise their residence.

Definition

Address registration is the local administrative process through which a new resident declares where they live after arrival. In many European countries this step triggers or unlocks later essentials such as tax records, health registration, bank onboarding, and residence-card collection. It is separate from the visa or permit decision itself, but missing the registration deadline can create practical and legal problems even when the person already holds a valid permit.
