Definition
A tax identification number is the personal number used by tax authorities to identify an individual for payroll, income tax, social contributions, and administrative records. Many workers receive it automatically after address registration, while other countries require a separate application or appointment. Even when a permit has already been granted, everyday employment usually cannot function smoothly until the correct tax identifier exists in the national system.
