A criminal record certificate, also called a police clearance or certificate of good conduct, is an official document from a police, justice, or interior authority confirming whether a person has a criminal history in that jurisdiction. Many European immigration routes require recent certificates from the applicant's country of nationality and from places where they lived previously. These certificates often need translation and apostille or legalisation before they are accepted.
