护理在所有欧盟成员国受到监管，并受自动认定机制约束。在欧盟和欧洲经济区受训的护士可在不经实质性评估的情况下获得资质认定。非欧盟护士须向国家护理协会或卫生主管部门申请，可能面临资质测试或有监督的适应期。
